Server Administrator / Media Manager

Summary of functions:
Recommends, develops, configures, installs, monitors, and supports the company’s server hardware and software for the company’s server-based computer systems in relation to a media production environment. Assists with ensuring the availability of client/server applications, configuring new implementations, and developing processes and procedures for ongoing management of the server environment. Assists in overseeing the physical security, integrity, and safety of the data center/server. Diagnoses, resolves, and documents hardware and software network problems in a timely and accurate fashion, and provides end user training and support where required. Organizes the raw media files on the server and maintains proper organizational structure.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Provides server management of hardware and software
  2. Analyzes server software and hardware problems, resolves server related software problems, oversees local area network server installation and configuration; administers security and backup procedures for local area network servers; participates in software and hardware evaluation
  3. Works with vendors to install additional storage; performs analysis and design for server resources and other related programs
  4. Maintains technologies to ensure server security; conducts research on server hardware, software, and protocols in support of procurement and development efforts, and provides recommendations
  5. Performs server and security audits
  6. Conducts regular system backups and provides recovery options
  7. Organizes and maintains files on server while managing the media on various projects
  8. Performs other duties assigned

Education, Experience and Training:
Education and experience equivalent to an Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Engineering, Business Administration or in a job related field of study. Two (2) years of related work experience in Information Technology and experiencing with Mac servers and operating systems. CCNA/CCNP or other relevant certifications are a plus.

Special Requirements / Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Strong hands-on working experience and technical knowledge of server and Macintosh operating systems. Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining all manners of server hardware and associated equipment. General knowledge of storage technologies in relation to a media production environment. Knowledgeable of database requirements for high availability, multi-function environments. Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments and the general public. Must possess a valid driver’s license, with a good driving record.

Physical / Environmental Requirements:
On call 24/7 technical support may be required. Requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, and the ability to lift files, boxes, and other materials up to 25 lbs., unassisted.

Assistant Video Editor

The Assistant Video Editor is a position on the Video Editing team, where the employee provides creative and technical support in the post-production department through assisting the editors and providing edit decisions. The employee is also responsible for operating computer-controlled video editing equipment and software. The Assistant video editor performs with considerable independence under the general direction of the editor, producer, and director.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Assists in the organization of the entire project
  2. Works with the media manager to update, label and store new project files properly
  3. Logs/labels footage
  4. Discuss project plans with editors, producers, and director
  5. Determines and make editing decisions on which clips are the best
  6. Troubleshoots and resolves problems with hardware and software
  7. Maintains hardware/software and performs regular back-ups
  8. Set and meet deadlines in fast-paced environment
  9. Performs other duties assigned

Education, Experience and Training:

Education and experience equivalent to an Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Media Studies, Film Production or in a job related field of study.  One (1) to Two (2) years of related work experience in Video Production and experience with Final Cut Pro and Adobe Creative Suite 5.

 

Special Requirements / Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Strong hands-on working experience and technical knowledge about the methods, video equipment, personal computers, and techniques used in the video-editing field. Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining video editing software and hardware. Expertise in Final Cut Pro, experience working with RED ONE footage and After Effects is a plus. Must demonstrate strong communication skills with a high attention to details.

Physical / Environmental Requirements:

On call 24/7 technical support may be required.  Requires prolonged sitting and working in-front of a computer. The ability to lift equipment, boxes, and other materials up to 25 lbs., unassisted.
